Animal Sanctuary Tuulispää

Somero, Finland

Tuulispää Animal Sanctuary is a retirement home and rescue shelter for farm animals. The sanctuary is currently the permanent home of more than 60 animals. The inhabitants include e.g. horses, cows, sheep, goats, chickens, arctic foxes, rabbits and pigs. Ones who were lucky enough to get away from the meat, dairy and fur industries. The animals have ended up there in different ways, for example the arctic foxes managed to run away from a fur farm and some of the cows were saved because workers bonded with them and didn't want them to get slaughtered.

They go out of their way to take in any animals in acute trouble, even as a temporary solution. It is truly heartwarming to see how well these animals are taken care of. Tuulispää operates on a voluntary basis and promotes environmental sustainability and veganism. They have open doors visits during the Summers and organize other educational events for example for school kids.

V Pravljici – In The Fairytale peace farm

Škofljica, Slovenia

V Pravljici currently has about 80 animals living with them. Pigs, cows, goats, geese, chickens, turkeys, horses, dogs, cats, a donkey and a bull. All of the animals were unwanted or mistreated in some way before they came there; rescued from the meat and dairy industries, stray animals found without a home or pets that people couldn’t cope with anymore. There are many different stories on how the animals ended up on this peace farm, like Teodor the pig falling out of the truck on the way to slaughterhouse, their kind bull Ferdinand being auctioned for 300kg of meat or Grim, a former police horse who was used as a mere vehicle and his back is still not healed from that time.It is so wonderful how  these lovely people are dedicating their lives to helping these animals. The location on these beautiful hills and all the animals living their lives in peace truly matches the name "In The Fairytale"
